DAY & KNIGHT is fully committed to being as sustainable and environmentally friendly as we possibly can be.
Firstly, all our fitted furniture cabinets are manufactured from Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified materials. Secondly, we hope to use more recyclable materials as they become available for use. Providing they pass our appropriate durability testing procedures.
Moreover, we use high-end cabinet components sourced only from sustainably conscious suppliers such as Hettich and Hefele. Both are focused on manufacturing in a sustainable way and use renewable energies, lowering CO2 emissions. Our selected suppliers also proactively avoid, reuse and recycle the packaging of their products.
Even our website, the one you’re looking at right now (built by Force Nine) is eco-friendly, with servers powered by 100% renewable energy. Furthermore, as Force Nine’s studio is solar powered, even the design process of our website achieves an impressive zero carbon score.
At present, we’re able to recycle some of our fitted furniture production materials. However, we are investigating possible biomass recycling options of our unrecyclable waste materials to improve this further.
We’re patiently waiting for the development of suitable electric commercial vehicles for our professional bespoke furniture fitters to use. Unfortunately, we feel there’s nothing quite appropriate on the market yet. However, we remain hopeful for the future. Above all, are ready to make this investment when the time comes.
We’re always looking for ways to improve our company’s operational sustainability. If you have any suggestions on anything we’re missing then please do let us know. We believe in good collaboration on all fronts.
