Day and Knight is a small family business run by Jonathan and Charlie Hope. The business launched in January 2000 in Berkshire and is focused on providing bespoke, quality furniture for your home, along with exceptional service and craftsmanship.

Whether you want to totally transform your bedroom with tailor-made fitted furniture, create a perfect home office, utilise the space in your loft room or create a bespoke lounge display unit, we can help.

Our team are expert craftsmen and fully qualified surveyors and carpenters, who take great pride in their work and ensure you are completely satisfied. We are proud to be a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen. A status only awarded to companies who have earned it through the quality of their work, their commitment to customer care and the level of service they provide.

 

MEET OUR TEAM

Jonathan

Jonathan has 40 years of joinery and carpentry experience gained by working with some of the larger fitted furniture suppliers before launching his own business Day and Knight, in January 2000. Jonathan’s focus has always been to offer customers exceptional, personable service, providing outstanding attention to detail and craftsmanship with every piece of bespoke fitted furniture that he designs.

You might say he is a perfectionist, however, it’s this attention to detail that leaves customers delighted with their new furniture and recommendations to their friends and family. Jonathan’s desire is to continue to grow the Day and Knight business as he’s not quite ready to retire just yet.


Charlie

It was inevitable that Charlie would follow in his father Jonathan’s footsteps into the family business. His maternal grandfather was also a joiner so you could say that the profession is in his blood. If Charlie is not asleep, he is working, his commitment and dedication to the satisfaction of our customers and the reputation of the company is a testament to the coaching and mentoring provided by his father who also has the same work ethic.

With 12 years of experience under his belt and gradually taking over more responsibility as time goes by, Charlie is determined to maintain the reputation and credibility of Day and Knight for many years to come.


James

James joined the team back in 2014 as an apprentice fresh out of school. It became very quickly apparent that he was going to be a valued member of the team and in it for the long haul. Fast forward to the present day, a qualified carpenter and hundreds of satisfied customers later, James is not only responsible for his own work, but the work of all our fitters.

We aspire to recruit fitters who are keen to learn and train them up, ‘the Day & Knight way’. James is a fine example of this and is considered a member of the family.


Callum

Callum joined us back at the beginning of 2018. He was unsure what he wanted to do after school, so we recruited him on a trial basis to see if it was for him. We quickly recognized his passion and flair for building bespoke furniture and offered him a full-time job. With Charlie being his cousin, we were not surprised at how quickly he picked up the art of what we do, and now in his third year and just 20 years old, he has gained enough experience to be able to finish jobs himself. Callum is now in his final year of college and will be a qualified carpenter within the next few months.


Max

Max is the newest member of the Day & Knight team, joining us at the beginning of 2021. With the demand for our services growing more and more each year, we decided to take on Max who had already worked at similar companies building bespoke furniture. We first came across his Instagram page where he had posted various projects he had completed. We were extremely impressed with his craftsmanship and of course got in touch immediately. He is currently shadowing one of our fitters to ensure he adapts his skillset to complement the Day & Knight style.


Jake

Day and Knight branched out into the Shutter market at the end of 2019 recognizing the need for a reliable, trustworthy company to provide this product. Inquiries were on the increase for this particular type of bespoke furniture, so we decided to take on the challenge. We first approached Jake because of his attention to detail for designing the perfect Shutters and his breadth of knowledge on the subject. Jake will always go that extra mile for our customers, ensuring that his mission is to match their vision 100%.
