At DAY & KNIGHT, we often get asked if we can build bespoke cupboards and fitted wardrobes for children’s bedrooms. To answer; yes we do. They’re typically not much different to adult units, expect for a few ergonomic details.

The main difference is the internal heights of shelving and hanging rails, which are lower for kids to reach. Consideration has to be taken with the choice of handle, handle less (or integrated) is best for their safety. If it’s a freestanding wardrobe, then these should be securely fixed to the wall.

Children’s Fitted Wardrobe in Henley Upon Thames

Here is a fitted wardrobe for a child’s bedroom that we completed for a client in Henley Upon Thames. Situated in the loft, this room required two bespoke fitted wardrobe units to go either side of the bed. Fitting nicely under the eves and maximising the available space.

It was designed in a lovely minimal grey colour, with cutouts in the doors for handles. Creating a really modern look. The vibrant orange backdrop and the white bed really made this small attic room pop.
