Frequently Asked Questions

Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll find below all our most frequently asked questions that we get asked here at DAY & KNIGHT.

01. – How are DAY & KNIGHT fitted wardrobes different to others?

DAY & KNIGHT collaborate with you to ensure you get the most from your space. All our furniture is bespoke manufactured, designed and built to fit your individual room. Where as other companies tend to use cheap carcass frames and infill strips, giving the illusion of a bespoke wall-to-wall unit.

02. – How much does a typical fitted wardrobe cost?

All rooms (bedrooms, home offices, media units etc) are unique and our fitted furniture is made to your specific requirements. Therefore, we cannot provide fixed prices on our website.

The prices for a fully bespoke fitted wardrobe start at around £2000. And around £7500 for a fully fitted bedroom. But, this will vary depending on the size of the project, the style and any optional extras.

We offer a free consultation and free design visit in your home. This means that you can find out how much your new bedroom, kitchen or home office will cost. Plus, there’s no obligation to buy.

03. – Do you offer finance to help with the payment?

As of 24/05/2023 we have paused our finance offerings, which were organised through third party lenders. However, your payments to us can still be made in a variety of ways.

04. – When do I need to pay?

Once you have chosen the design of your perfect fitted furniture, we will require a 30% deposit to proceed. We then request a further 60% to be paid one week prior to installation. Once your beautiful new bespoke fitted furniture is complete we collect the final remaining 10% payment.

We would really appreciate if you could share your positive experience and leave us a review. We are really proud of our work and love to share it on our social accounts. Would you be happy for a member of our team to return and take some pictures once your flooring has been laid back down? If so, get back in touch and we can arrange a time and day. Alternatively, we would be grateful if you could send us your own photos.

Thank you again and we hope to have the pleasure of working with you in the future.

05. – What methods can I make a payment?

We offer a variety of payment methods. You can pay by cheque, debit card, credit card, bank transfer or apply for an individual finance plan.

06. – I would like to confirm/cancel/re-arrange my appointment

To confirm, cancel or amend a consultation or home design visit please call our office on 01753 681495. We’ll amend your booking straight away. Unfortunately we cannot take any consultation or design visit cancellations via email as our Design Consultants need as much notice as possible to plan their appointments.

07. – What do I do if I have not received my quotation?

Please contact our main office on 01753 681495 who will look into the issue for you.

08. – Do you use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to design wardrobes?

We have an in-house team waiting for your home visit designs to come in to create a CAD to bring you ideas to your screen.

09. – Can you supply cupboard or kitchen doors only?

Yes, we can supply cupboard doors cut to size and kitchen doors cut to size. However, cannot offer our 10 year guarantee without supplying our carcass system and installation service.

10. – Where are your fitted wardrobes made?

We bespoke design and tailor-manufacture all our fitted furniture systems in our state-of-the CNC controlled workshop in High Wycombe. This includes our fitted wardrobes. All of the materials that will make up your furniture are cut with precision, to fit your room perfectly. Everything is quality checked from start to finish by a master crafts’ person.

11. – I would like to confirm/re-arrange my delivery time

To confirm or amend your delivery time please call 01753 681495 and one of our team can alter your booking as required.

12. – What will I need to do in preparation for the delivery?

Please make sure that the room is clear of all furniture and soft furnishings. The carpet should also be removed for fitted furniture, but may remain in some instances such as with freestanding units.

If the room is not clear, it will make the carpenter’s job very hard. It’s virtually impossible not to damage anything in a room with dust created and materials around while fitting your new furniture.

In the event your carpet was removed for fitting purposes. Please remember that you will have to get the carpet re-fitted once the installation has been completed. Plus have the carpet stretched back onto the carpet gripper and trimmed around your new fitted units.

13. – Do I need to remove any plug sockets?

Any sockets that our furniture will cover up and that you need, then just let us know. We will either pull the socket through or make sure you have access to it.

14. – Do I need to remove my skirting board?

No, our expert installers will work around your room. They can scribe your new fitted wardrobes around any skirting boards, dado rails and coving. If they need to be removed, our team will do so.

15. – Should I decorate before my fitted furniture is installed?

If you decide to decorate your bedroom before your wardrobes are installed, please remember that fitting a bespoke wardrobe may require some repair after.

16. – How long will it take?

Most of Day & Knights projects take 2 to 3 days but this will depend on the amount of furniture has been purchased

17. – Do DAY & KNIGHT offer a Guarantee?

We are so confident that your new DAY & KNIGHT furniture is manufactured to the highest standards, that we guarantee all our products for a full 12 years.

Furthermore, we guarantee our workmanship for 12 years too. Which means, if any defects arise within 12 years of installation and are found to have been caused by faulty workmanship or material, we’ll put it right

18. – How Do I Choose The Correct Finish for my Wardrobes?

We are often asked whether it is better to go for Matte, Satin or high gloss finishes. There is no ‘right’ answer because it is largely down to personal choice. However the one caveat we would make is that if you have children and pets who have a tendency to put grubby hands and paws everywhere, a gloss finish may be a better option. Quite simply, it is easier to wipe grubby marks off of a high gloss surface than it is a matte surface.
