Transforming Spaces: A Challenging Sloped-Ceiling Full Bedroom Furniture Makeover in Lane End, Buckinghamshire
When the owners of a distinctive top-floor bedroom in Lane End, Buckinghamshire, faced the challenge of creating ample storage in a room chockfull of angled and sloped ceilings, they enlisted the expertise of DAY & KNIGHT. Ingeniously Crafted Angled Fitted Wardrobes & Cupboards
Understanding the unique limitations and possibilities offered by the room’s unconventional architecture was crucial. DAY & KNIGHT rose to the occasion by designing made-to-measure fitted wardrobes and cupboards that fitted perfectly into the angled and sloped ceilings and maximised storage space. The traditional “Shaker” style of these units, finished in a luxurious combination of Frost White Super-Matt and Sevilla Ash, demonstrated that practicality and elegance could coexist harmoniously.
A Corner-Wrapped Vanity Unit
Central to the project’s vision was the creation of a wrap-around corner vanity unit that would serve as both a practical storage solution and a statement piece. Integrating seamlessly with the room’s dimensions, the vanity featured a generous array of drawers meticulously crafted to match the overall design ethos. Its practical elegance not only enhanced the room’s aesthetics but also provided an exceptional organisation solution.
Recessed Dormer Window Drawer Units
One of the project’s other challenging elements was the dormer window spaces. Recognising the storage potential of this area, DAY & KNIGHT designed recessed drawer units that fit snugly into the alcoves while still allowing access to the windows. Above these units, space was reserved for cushioned seating (shown without cushions), potentially creating two cozy nooks for relaxation while also significantly expanding the room’s storage capabilities.
Bespoke Bedside Units: A Perfect Match
No detail was too small for the project, as evidenced by the custom matching bedside units. Designed to complement the larger pieces of bespoke furniture, these units offered additional storage and accessibility without compromising on design. The continuity in style and finish enhanced the cohesive look of the bedroom, showcasing DAY & KNIGHT’s meticulous attention to detail.
Traditional Meets Contemporary
The entire project was a testament to the timeless appeal of traditional “Shaker” style furniture, brought into the 21st century with a blend of Frost White Super-Matt and Sevilla Ash finishes. This combination imbued the bedroom with a sense of warmth and sophistication. Beyond their stylistic appeal, the finishes were chosen for their durability, ensuring that the bedroom would remain a place of comfort and elegance for years to come.
