The client was drawn to the modern “farmhouse” look, preferring timeless detailing and warm, tactile finishes over anything too stark or minimal. The finished unit does exactly that; delivering generous storage and family-friendly features within a design that feels both current and enduring.

This hallway needed to work hard. Coats, school bags, sports kit and everyday shoes all required a designated place, yet the client wanted the area to feel welcoming and composed rather than cluttered. DAY & KNIGHT answered with a tailored solution that combines both open and closed storage sections, allowing the family to keep the essentials within easy reach while keeping visual noise to a minimum.
A small, integrated bench seat (thoughtfully sized for the little ones) offers a spot to perch while putting shoes on, helping the morning routine run smoothly; creating great boot room functionality.
Heritage Green Meets Nebraska Oak In This Bespoke Unit
To achieve the modern farmhouse feel, the exterior cabinetry is finished in a beautiful heritage green. It brings depth and warmth to the entrance, setting a refined tone from the moment you walk in. Inside, grey Nebraska oak internals add subtle texture and a contemporary edge. The contrast feels fresh yet timeless, with a finish that’s both durable and inviting.
Shaker Detailing and Elegant Hardware
Shaker-style doors were chosen for their clean, architectural lines. They’re very much on-trend and lend a classic simplicity that suits the space. Gorgeous satin nickel Victorian style cupboard knobs complete the look. They introduce a tactile highlight, elevating everyday interactions with a touch of understated elegance.
